The NLGRB compliance and enforcement staff received training on the key professional principles for inspectors, including integrity, objectivity, confidentiality and competence. This was part of the developed compliance and enforcement manual.
As part of the training, the new NLGRB Compliance and Enforcement team received comprehensive instruction on procedures to ensure the effective and ethical execution of their duties. Core principles covered in the inspection process included evidence-based, risk-focus and proportionality approach, coordination and consolidation, integration of information, promotion of compliance, and maintaining professionalism.

The training also emphasised the rights of operators, ensuring that inspections are carried out with fairness, courtesy, and respect. Topics such as privacy, confidentiality, and the provision of accurate, clear, and complete information were highlighted to reinforce a balanced and respectful regulatory approach.
A significant portion of the training focused on a risk-based inspection framework. This strategic approach will enable the NLGRB team to prioritise inspections of high-risk operators, ensuring more efficient use of resources while minimizing the regulatory burden on low-risk entities. By targeting areas of greater concern, the framework aims to strengthen overall compliance through more focused education and training efforts.
In the closing sessions of the training, the team was instructed on the practical aspects of planning and conducting inspections, receiving guidelines to ensure thorough and consistent execution. The final module of the training addressed the critical process of reporting non-compliance and documenting inspection findings.
