Faridah Bahemuka Murungi is a distinguished legal professional with over 16 years of experience spanning private legal practice, corporate governance, and public sector leadership. She currently serves as Legal Counsel in the Tax Policy Department at Uganda’s Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, where she contributes to the formulation of national tax policies and leads negotiations on international treaties in areas such as taxation, investment, and aviation.

Faridah also serves as Uganda’s Focal Person to the OECD Global Forum on Tax Transparency, where she advocates for adherence to international standards that combat tax evasion and illicit financial flows. Her leadership in these high-stakes engagements is especially critical to risk-prone sectors like gaming, where transparency and regulatory compliance are paramount. Her prior role as Deputy Company Secretary at Warid Telecom Uganda Ltd equipped her with extensive experience in corporate governance, board secretarial duties, and regulatory risk management, particularly in navigating complex commercial transactions.

Her legal expertise is complemented by a Master’s degree in International Tax from University of Melbourne, Australia and advanced training in key areas such as project finance, international business transactions, fiscal law and governance, regional economic integration, extractive industries, and anti-corruption strategies. She is also well-versed in alternative dispute resolution and investment law, which positions her as a versatile legal strategist with a deep understanding of both domestic frameworks and global policy dynamics.

Faridah is a Board Member at the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB), bringing extensive expertise in legal, fiscal, and policy matters. Her strategic approach to aligning National Regulatory priorities with international best practices enhances the Board’s capacity for effective oversight and compliance. With her deep understanding of fiscal governance and treaty frameworks, she is poised to contribute significantly to creating a fair, transparent, and investment-friendly gaming sector in Uganda.
