NLGRB, URA Deepen Partnership to Strengthen Gaming Sector Oversight

A high-level engagement between NLGRB and URA focused on improving coordination, compliance, and revenue mobilization within Uganda’s fast-growing gaming sector.

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB), led by Board Chairman Hon. Kenneth Kitariko, held a strategic meeting with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner General Mr. John Rujoki Musinguzi and his team to strengthen coordination in Uganda’s gaming sector. The engagement focused on improving oversight, compliance, and domestic revenue mobilization.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Hon. Kenneth Kitariko underscored the importance of institutional collaboration. “Collaboration is not optional; it is fundamental. We cannot regulate what we cannot see, and we cannot collect what we cannot verify,” he said.

URA Commissioner General Mr. John Rujoki Musinguzi welcomed the NLGRB delegation and stressed the need for joint action to strengthen oversight and compliance. He noted that stronger collaboration between the two institutions is essential to support domestic revenue mobilization and sustainable sector growth.

Key areas of discussion included revenue tracking, stronger inter-agency coordination, improved data sharing, and better alignment between regulatory and fiscal objectives.

As the gaming industry continues to grow, close coordination between regulators and revenue authorities remains critical to effective compliance, monitoring, and action against illegal gaming activities.

The engagement reflects a shared commitment by NLGRB and URA to build a more transparent, accountable, and well-regulated gaming industry that supports Uganda’s national development agenda.
