National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board participates in the 2nd National Court Open Day at Kololo

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) joined several government and institutional stakeholders at Kololo Independence Grounds for the 2nd National Court Open Day, held under the theme “Enhancing Judicial Accountability and Access to Justice.”

The event, organised by the Judiciary of Uganda, provided an important platform for public engagement, awareness creation, and inter-institutional collaboration aimed at strengthening justice delivery across the country.

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board as one of the regulators whose cases are handled by the Standards, Wildlife and Utilities Court showcased its mandate of protecting citizens from the adverse effects of gaming through display of laws, gaming machines confiscated, and public awareness materials like brochures, posters among others. Visitors to the NLGRB exhibition stand were engaged on key aspects of the Board’s work, including licensing of gaming operators, types of regulated games, player protection measures, compliance checks made by the Board and enforcement actions including prosecution of illegal gaming operators.

The Board also used the occasion to forge partnerships and collaborate with fellow institutions, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthened regulatory frameworks in Uganda.

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board was honoured to host His Lordship Christopher Gashirabake, Justice of the Court of Appeal, together with Her Worship G. Kamasanyu, Chief Magistrate – Standards, Wildlife and Utilities Court, among other distinguished guests.

Throughout the full-day event, members of the public actively consulted with NLGRB officials, gaining valuable insights into gaming awareness, consumer protection, and the role of regulation in promoting accountability within the gaming industry.

The Board reaffirms its commitment to working closely with the Judiciary and other stakeholders to promote access to justice, uphold accountability, and ensure a safe and responsible gaming environment for all Ugandans.
