Profile

Kenneth Kitariko is a seasoned financial markets executive, regulatory advisor, and corporate leader with over 25 years of experience in capital markets development, investment advisory, and private sector transformation across East Africa. He is currently the Board Chairman of Old Mutual Life Assurance Uganda and Principal Consultant at Capital Consultants Uganda.

Kenneth has worked extensively with regulators, playing a pivotal role in shaping Uganda’s financial sector policy and governance frameworks. He has advised and collaborated with key regulatory institutions, including the Bank of Uganda, Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Uganda Securities Exchange (USE), and Rwanda Capital Markets Authority. He chaired critical committees such as the USE Legal and Listing Committees and served as Vice Chair of the Bank of Uganda’s Financial Markets Development Committee. He currently serves on the Bank of Uganda’s Fixed Income Market Steering Committee, contributing to market structure reforms and regulatory innovation.

In 2023, he led access-to-finance initiatives at the European Union Delegation in Uganda, managing over €52 million in financial inclusion facilities, including capital market and banking sector interventions, in close collaboration with regulatory stakeholders. His regulatory expertise has also supported compliance frameworks, licensing processes, and transaction structuring across multiple jurisdictions.

Kenneth has advised landmark financial transactions involving regulated entities, including NSSF, DFCU, Umeme, MTN Uganda, and the African Development Bank. He also guided the development of Uganda’s first mutual fund legal framework.

He holds degrees in Law and Criminal Justice, a diploma in Financial Analysis, and executive education from Harvard, Columbia, and Strathmore. Kenneth is recognized as a trusted advisor to both regulators and market players, driving reforms that expand access to finance, strengthen governance, and foster sustainable investment.
