The Board shall—
Our work goes beyond issuing licenses. We are here to ensure that gaming is conducted responsibly, fairly, and in a way that contributes positively to Uganda’s economy and society. Our key responsibilities include:
Granting licenses to operators while ensuring they adhere to the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
Working closely with law enforcement agencies to combat illegal gaming activities and protect vulnerable populations.
Regulating the industry to maximize its contributions to national development, with UGX 193 billion collected in FY 2023/24 alone.
Promoting responsible gaming through public awareness campaigns and training programs for operators and law enforcement.
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB), a corporate body mandated to regulate and oversee lotteries, gaming, and betting. Established under the Lotteries and Gaming Act No. 7 of 2016, our mandate is simple yet impactful: to create a fair, transparent, and well-regulated gaming environment that benefits the nation while protecting Ugandans from the adverse effects of gaming.
