The Lotteries and Gaming Act, 2016 gives the Board mandate to carry out it's functions. The Act is supported by a set of 5 Regulations which came into effect on 27th May 2016.
The law mandates the Board to license and regulate the operations of lotteries, casinos and betting houses (Industry).
Responsible gaming strategy entails to counter problem gambling to a significant reduction. It will provide a comprehensive understanding of the gaming approaches as well as safeguarding the practitioners nationwide.
It will involve various activities and approaches as remedy to problem gambling.
Section 4 states that the Board shall receive, investigate and arbitrate, or take appropriate action incase of complaints relating to lotteries, gaming, betting and casinos

Less than seven months ago, a pivotal moment in Uganda's approach to national development and public welfare unfolded as the Ugandan government entered into a landmark partnership with ITHUBA Uganda, a subsidiary of the renowned South African firm.
In order to fulfil its mandate of protecting members of the public from the adverse effects of gaming, the Board sought the partnership and support of Ministry of Health (Mental Health Division) to hold a stakeholder meeting and training with Health Workers and Village Health Teams from Kiryandongo District.
In a collaborative effort to uphold industry integrity, officials from the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) joined forces with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) officials to conduct a joint enforcement exercise. The operation aimed to ensure compliance with gaming regulations and tax laws within the country. The exercise involved thorough inspections of gaming establishments across Uganda to verify adherence to regulatory standards and tax requirements.
