Western Region Responsible Gaming Awareness Compaign

This stakeholder engagement was done in eight learning institutions and six Regional Referral Hospitals in the districts of Masaka, Mbarara, Kisoro, Kabale, Kasese and Kabarole.

Awareness creation of Responsible gaming was carried out during this Responsible Gaming awareness campaign. The masses were enlightened on what is entailed in the Board’s Responsible gaming program. For instance, prevention, identifying problem gamblers, Counselling and treatment, protection of minors, training, awareness creation, training and research.

The Board’s image was promoted through presentations about the Gaming sector in Uganda. These key stakeholders were made aware of the functions of the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board, it’s main mandate and contribution to Uganda’s education and health.

For instance, the CSR & Responsible Gaming Officer highlighted the fact that the Board through one of its functions as stipulated by the Law in Section 4(i) of the Lotteries and Gaming Act No.7 of 2016, participate, and contribute to good causes in accordance with the Act. Is mandated to give back to society through Cooperate Social Responsibility and the Board together with the Gaming operators support Sports, Health and Education.

NLGRB’s Protocol and Public Relations Officer educated the stakeholders on the different forms of gaming that the Board regulates, and initiatives being planned to ensure there is transparency and accountability in the sector.

Besides creating awareness, the CSR & Responsible Gaming Officer together with the support from the Protocol and Public Relations Officer of NLGRB disseminated posters with Responsible Gaming messages to all key stakeholders and thirty-four gaming operators in the towns of Masaka, Mbarara, Kisoro, Kabale, Bwera, Kasese and Fortportal.
