In a landmark move to address the growing issue of problem gambling among students, Makerere University’s Guild leadership signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) on Monday, March 17, 2025.

The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) has intensified its crackdown on illegal gaming operations.

On February 18, 2025, a major step was taken in the fight against illegal gaming as over 1,092 unlicensed gaming and betting machines were set for destruction by a licensed e-waste management company, Luwero Industries Ltd.
